Abstract:
Since the first public release in 2001, there have been well over 190,000 downloads of the Open Source Cluster Application Resources (OSCAR) software stack and it is presently ranked as #4 in downloads of cluster related software at SourceForge.net. OSCAR is a self-extracting cluster configuration, installation, maintenance, and operation suite consisting of “best known practices” for cluster computing. OSCAR has been used on highly ranking clusters in the TOP500 list and is available in both a freely downloadable version as well as commercially supported instantiations. The OSCAR team is comprised of an international group of developers from research laboratories, universities, and industry cooperating in the open source effort. This BoF will be a focal point for the OSCAR community at SC07 where both developers and users may gather to discuss the “current state” as well as future directions for the OSCAR software stack. New and potential users and developers welcome.
