SC07 Announces “Disruptive Technologies” Showcase Winners
Exhibits will be on display during conference
Reno, NV – September 24, 2007 –– For a second year, the annual Supercomputing Conference will feature an exhibit hall of “disruptive technologies” to highlight innovations in high performance computing.
This display, formerly called Exotic Technologies, premiered at SC06 in Tampa, Fla. At SC07, this event is called Disruptive Technologies and will feature an exhibit area where researchers will display and demonstrate their new technologies to attendees.
“This exhibit allows people who use high-performance computing to experience technologies that have the potential to change the landscape of hardware and software dramatically. In the next two decades, we may see some of these technologies used in every supercomputer,” said SC 07 Disruptive Technologies Chair Jeffrey Vetter of Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Georgia Institute of Technology.
This year, the Disruptive Technologies Committee selected featured technologies from a large pool of submissions. The winning entries, which will comprise the SC07 Disruptive Technologies Showcase are:
• Superconducting Quantum Computing System, D-Wave;
• Many-Core Chip System Software and Logic Co-Verification, ETI and IBM;
• High Performance Optical Connectivity Based on CMOS Photonics Technology, Luxtera;
• Non-Volatile Random Access Memory using carbon nanotubes, Nantero; and,
• Optical Printed Circuit Board Technology and 200+200Gbps Transceiver, IBM.
The Disruptive Technologies display will be in Exhibit Hall 1B of the Reno-Sparks Convention Center from Monday, Nov. 12-Thursday, Nov. 15.
