Panels

The SC07 panels program focuses on several exciting topics that are extremely relevant and timely in today's world of supercomputing. We received 22 fine proposals this year and selected 7 panels that span a broad spectrum of topics. The panels offer diverse points of view and an opportunity for audience participation. As in previous years, these sessions are expected to engender lively and even passionate debate.

This year's panel sessions are:

  • Return of HPC Survivor - Outwit, Outlast, Outcompute : This great panel concept, both entertaining and educational, is back!

  • Supercomputing with Exotic Architectures : Let us discuss what we can do with FPGAs, GPUs, game processors and other non-conventional approaches to computing.

  • Operating system wars : What is the right kernel for your supercomputer?

  • Quantum computing : What is happening in this revolutionary field?

  • How to Get a Better Job in Computing - and Keep It! : Guaranteed to interest all!

  • HEC energy crisis : How shall we cope with a world in which computing is limited by power consumption?

  • Fifty years of Fortran : Celebrate the most popular language for supercomputing!

We encourage everyone to attend the panels to learn, question, offer opinions and engage with the panelists and the rest of the audience for a fun and enriching experience!
